So… Why do we do what we do?

March 31st, The day of trans visibility is always a good excuse to stop the daily maelstrom and take some time to reflect.
Several months ago, in a radio interview with Lalo Mir, he asked me one last question: And why are you doing this? referring to Trans-TI, of course, I answered him with a quick “I just don’t know Lalo” and I regretted that answer. I guess I was thinking that the seconds on the radio are precious or some other stupid reason, because I DO know why we do this. I know why we create formal jobs only for trans people, why we tirelessly search for new business models and services that allow us to open more and more jobs in our company.

70% of the local transgender population never reaches the first job interview

Beyond the daily violation of the transgender community, its horrible statistics and the consequences, there is a desire behind it, and that is to be copied. We are aware of our privileges and we use them to balance -even if only a little- the social injustices imposed by a hetero-normative and patriarchal culture, which does nothing but put pressure on all of us. The consequences of this pressure are vast, clear and dire.

Life expectancy for a transgender woman in Argentina is between 35 and 40 years old

After almost two years of existence, our startup tried different business models, the key is to find a service that has high added value, it is in demand and also has an initial low learning curve. That is why we focus technically on the two areas of IT: Software Testing and Robotic Process Automation. Many of the girls and boys we aim to employ are being trained in these tasks, some of them already have become true experts in the assembly of software robots with the help of our friends at IBM (we are already partners, we are on our way to certify several of our employees technically).

Only 9% of the population has formal jobs

The same happened with Software Testing. Our friends of the Nahual Project, a 10 year-old nonprofit project which every semester trains 8 to 12 courses on Software Testing with 20~30 people in each course. We now have 14 graduates and started to work with a testing automation project using Mocha, chai & chai-http. It takes a little more time, yes, but just a little and the results are awesome.

So copy, copy us, copy our model and help us.
